Tracy Ross

Educator • Director • Performer

Since 1993, Tracy Ross has been an energetic and visionary force in the performing arts.

With over two decades of experience as a theatre professional, educator, and creative leader, Tracy has built a career dedicated to innovation, collaboration, and the transformative power of performance.

As the founder of Bumbershoot Theatre—Kelowna’s celebrated children’s theatre company—she helped cultivate a vibrant arts community through original productions, youth mentorship, and partnerships with organizations such as Opera Kelowna, the Okanagan Symphony, and the Kelowna Art Gallery.

Now teaching at the University of British Columbia Okanagan, Tracy continues to pioneer new approaches to theatre education. Her practice balances doing and reflection—creating what she calls a “Brave Space” where students are encouraged to take creative risks, embrace discomfort for growth, and explore contemporary performance forms including devised work, immersive theatre, and transmedia storytelling.

Driven by passion, grounded in collaboration, and guided by curiosity, Tracy remains committed to nurturing the next generation of artists and expanding the possibilities of performance as both an art form and a means of connection.
